The U.S. Postal Service has been operating faithfully during the government shutdown. This is one important reason to be happy the USPS is an independent government agency.However, today is Columbus Day in the U.S., and there will be no mail delivery.
There are only three more postal holidays left in 2013: Veteran's Day on Nov. 11, Thanksgiving on Nov. 28, and Christmas on Dec. 25.
