While serving in the navy in the late 1950's my ship visited Sydney. Australia and it was there that I met a wonderful girl, but our romance lasted but several days and I was off to Melbourne. While in Melbourne I received a letter from her, and the odd thing was the trip that letter had taken. She mailed it from Sydney, addressed to FPO (Fleet Post Ofc.) New York. We were an east coast ship on a round the world cruise so that letter traveled from Sydney to New York and back to Melbourne in 4 days. Yes, 4 days. Our ship's mailman said it was possible if everything clicked and I guess it did.
