Mike Myers stamp

Mike Myers on the CBS Sunday Morning Show

According to the CBS Sunday Morning show, comedian/actor/filmmaker Mike Myers of "Saturday Night Live" and "Austin Powers" fame will be featured on a Canada Post stamp. On the segment that aired Sunday, June 1, it looked like CBS briefly showed a picture of the new stamp. But, I can't find any other news or images about it online. And, CBS doesn't seem to have a video of the full segment loaded up. But, you can read a story version of the interview online. They talk about the stamp at the end of the story.

Although the story and some comments I've seen online indicate there are no other people on Canadian stamps besides Queen Elizabeth II and Mike Myers, a quick look at Canada Post reveals that to be untrue. There seem to be several other people on Canadian stamps.

Update: Thanks to James who posted a link to the Sunday Morning Show's Google+ page, we can get a good look at that stamp (see the embedded file below):

  2. Ran across your blog while searching for more info on the Mike Meyers stamp--incase you haven't seen it, tonight's episode of The tonight show with Jimmy Fallon featured Mike Meyers and they showed a very clear picture of what the stamp will look like. I'm sure you can find the episode online by tomorrow. I am hoping (somehow) to aquire a stamp just for the sake of having one since I love Mike Meyers :)

  3. This is a weird story as the only quotes on Myers are all from his appearance on Jimmy Fallon... Also, you're right, there are a TON of people who have been on canadian stamps, most recently Black Canadians were honoured but there have also been Canadian Heroes (which included stamps of many Canadians including Astronaut Roberta Bondar), Canadian athletes and olympian sets of stamps and the list goes on and on.

As a matter of fact, Canada Post has a feature through which you can put your own photo on a stamp (it actually came out long before the similar American version of this) and when my daughter was born, I used one of my favourite photos of her on real stamps from Canada Post for her birth announcements which were mailed out of town.
